in bed

3 days before Christmas I'm in bed with the flu.  I missed a beautiful day of lunch and the ballet and instead spent it on the bathroom floor.  Today I'm feeling somewhat human again.

One of my very favorite websites I read had a new posting today. They don't post often so it's like a little present.  If you are anything like me you will like the entire site.  Read here.

Also, Ellie has a new post up today (yay).  It's her love story, read it here.

Donna has been writing little stories on the twelve days of Christmas which are so charming.
Read here.

That's all.  Hope you are not sick.  See you soon. x

    1. Me too! Although realistically you guys would have to sit in my kitchen and throw me drinks like a marathon runner because I'm pretty deep in the weeds on my cooking schedule. Spent an extra day decorating that was supposed to be prepping.

  15. Please, wake up well tomorrow.

Became sick week before Thanksgiving. 3 weeks down, still not 100%.

How to handle this dreadfulness? Loads of art films............cats in my lap, looking at my garden from the windows.

    Again, tomorrow, shazam, be well.

  17. Ayyiyi amiga, no buena. Ok that's all my Spanish, and it's probably all wrong.

So sorry you're sick, sick sucks and it's hard to realize you won't feel this bad forever.

Just remember it takes a while to get your groove back once you're over the worst.t.

So go easy on yourself, you hear?

  19. So sorry you're sick. I don't recall ever reading you mentioning being sick before. I'd imagine this is rather rare. So of course it must come right before Christmas! Get well soon. This will shock everyone I'm sure-but I do believe firmly in the healing ways of a hot toddy. And who gives better medical advice than a hairstylist?
I can't believe I'm going to say this, considering the deep level at which I emotionally connect with Ellie's views on "fucking LED lights" and her whole tinsel post, but I think today's wasy favorite post yet. I laughed and cried and was so touched. I even had a glimmer of optimism while reconsidering my commitment to spinsterdom. A very rare happening for me! She is such a bright light. And I just love that she is totally unpredictable. I am SO glad you turned me on to her blog. She's probably not because I've emailed her twice already. Merry Christmas!!

    1. Edit: I have a f*****g cold. How the mighty have fallen!
Figured it would be uncouth to drop fs twice in one comment.
This is, perhaps, retribution for my smug comment about never being sick!

take care and get well soon. meanwhile i've accepted your challenge of writing a positive jan 1st post.

  20. I know how dreadful you feel. I had it last week and it had me down and out for 3 days. After that, I rallied bit by bit, but it left me terribly tired. So let yourself rest, because there isn't a whole lot more you can do. In spite of it all, Merry Christmas and a prosperous, peaceful New Year..

  23. Sorry to hear you are sick Janet...no fun at all!! Especially right around Christmas. I was very lucky this year, no colds or flu. I did feel a little crummy for a day right after having my flu shot which I hear is not unusual. That was my second flu shot ever, always passed on them before.

Get well soon and have a wonderful Christmas!

  30. Have the flu, type A, just diagnosed yesterday. As I lay frying with a temp of 103, I thanked God I don't live in a third world country...................that I have access to doctors, Tamiflu (which is helping), cough medicine, etc. Oh my, how Christmas plans have changed. Hope you are feeling better soon.
